Improving Data Governance for NSW iCare - Insurance for NSW

Background

iCare had a data quality issue that needed fixing. iCare outsource claims management to external claims managers who send regular data feeds into a centrally maintained data warehouse. This data warehouse is used for premium setting, scheme and management reporting and needs to maintain high quality data. Note: Insurance For NSW is a division of icare. Icare is Australia’s largest insurer. Insurance for NSW provides insurance for NSW government departments in a self-insurance scheme.

The Challenge

Establish an automated data quality framework to address the entire data governance lifecycle.

Improve the data quality and reduce the time and effort to maintain the data.

The solution was a mixture of bespoke .NET development, ETL development and issue management integration.

We Integrated the data quality service with issue management and data error reporting systems and created issue dashboards and issue management functionality to track data quality issues and close them when underlying errors were resolved.
